Where we work, and what the roofs are like.

Roof geometry, decking type and age vary enormously across this metro. Here is what we actually find in each area.

Edmond

Steep pitches and big catchment areas.

The roof geometry here is more complicated than anywhere else in the metro — multiple planes, deep valleys and a lot of penetrations. That means more flashing, and flashing is where roofs fail.

Norman

Rentals and long-held family homes on the same street.

Deferred maintenance is the pattern here. We do a lot of inspections in Norman that find a roof three years past the point where a repair would have held.

Moore

Rebuilt after 2013, and now due.

A lot of Moore was re-roofed within a couple of years of the May 2013 tornado, which means a great many roofs here are reaching the same age at the same time. We are seeing that wave now.

Yukon

Newer builds with builder-grade three-tab.

Builder-grade three-tab shingle on a fifteen-year-old Yukon house is at end of life even if it looks intact. Architectural shingle at replacement is a meaningful upgrade for a small difference in price.

Midwest City

Post-war stock with the original decking.

Plank decking with gaps between boards will not hold a modern nail pattern reliably. On these houses a tear-off often turns into a re-deck, and we would rather you knew that possibility before we start than after.
