Why we will not roof over
Laying new shingles over old is legal in most cases and it is cheaper. It also hides every soft deck board, traps heat that shortens the new shingles' life, and makes the next replacement more expensive than it needed to be.
If somebody has quoted you a roof-over at a price that seems too good, that is usually what you are buying. We will price it if you insist, and we will put in writing that we advised against it.
